These and other communities and masters of the music significantly impacted the development of jazz in America. At the same time, the communities and scenes inspired the sounds of these iconic bands and artists.

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis return to the Appel Room for the third installment of their intimate concert series, Journey Through Jazz, and honor communities like these, and the musicians who were important contributors to the art form.
