The Edward Simon Trio presents a program brimming with spontaneity, syncopation, and unforgettable melodies. Alongside two special guests—award-winning Mexican vocalist Magos Herrera and percussionist Luis Quinteros—they celebrate the legacy of Latin American women songwriters such as Violeta Parra (Chile), Marta Valdés (Cuba), Chabuca Granda (Chile), Elizabeth Morris (Argentina), and Joyce (Brazil). This event is made possible with the support of Jazz Road, a national initiative of South Arts, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Simon’s Latino Soy was commissioned by Chamber Music America’s New Jazz Works Program and funded through the generosity of the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
