Award-winning multi-instrumentalist and film composer Christian X. M. McGhee leads his 10-piece string orchestra and band The Xtet at Dizzy’s Club, premiering his debut album and BMI commission A Winged Resilience. Signaling McGhee’s creative poise and burgeoning mastery, the album combines his love for film scoring with his passion for spontaneity and improvised music, and bonds stylistic elements from classic film compositions, groove music, standard tunes, lyrical melodies, free improvising, and unbound imagination. A Winged Resilience is commissioned by the BMI Foundation on behalf of the Ahrold Family in recognition of the Future Jazz Master Award, and supported by YoungArts.
