Fred Hersch & Friends: Intimate Moments
Featured Category • 1h 36m
Acclaimed pianist and composer Fred Hersch has put forth arrestingly beautiful projects over the course of his career. He has been called "one of the small handful of brilliant musicians of his generation" by Downbeat, and his music has been praised as “luxurious, free-flowing, unashamedly gorgeous jazz” by New York Times.
In this Appel Room show, Hersch plays solo and enlists world-class players to join him for duos. With two pianos on stage, Hersch performs with his protégé and 2015 Cole Porter Fellowship winner Sullivan Fortner. Additionally, Hersch performs duos with clarinetist Anat Cohen, guitarist Julian Lage, and the vibraphonist Stefon Harris (who also performs in a duo with Fortner).
Originally recorded January 16, 2016.
